What a success!

The 2009 Foreclosure.com Scholarship Program has closed with a bang thanks to a truly overwhelming response.

Students from across the nation at schools such as Northwestern University, University of Virginia, University of Miami and University of California, among countless others, eagerly submitted their essays on “How to Solve the Foreclosure Crisis” up until the final hour.

When the dust finally settled, the Dec. 31, 2009, submission deadline was met with an overflow of essays tallying more than 1,000!

Now the hard work for our review panel, which comprises a collection of professors in the fields of law, real estate and economics, can finally begin.

The results of the essay contest will be announced on or around Jan. 31, 2010, when five talented winners will be chosen based on creativity, originality, writing ability and overall excellence. Remember that the first place winner will receive a $5,000 scholarship toward the college or university he or she attends (or plans to attend), and the four semi-finalists will each receive $1,000 scholarships.

We’d once again like to issue a big “THANK YOU” to all the students who participated in our inaugural scholarship program. And, of course, we’d like to also commend the hundreds of colleges and universities who actively promoted the scholarship.

Be sure to check back next month as the winners of the essay, “How to Solve the Foreclosure Crisis?” will be announced and their essays posted to the Web site.

Good luck!

We’re just three weeks in and the Foreclosure.com Scholarship Program has experienced overwhelming interest within the education sector.

Colleges and universities across the nation — Columbia University, Tulane University and Michigan State University to name just a few — have been actively promoting the scholarship with hopes that one of their own will not only win the top prize ($5,000), but ultimately help “solve the foreclosure crisis.”

Thousands of applications have been pouring in with well-written essays that provide unique/creative solutions to a complex problem. We called for innovative ideas and the students have answered en masse!

With three months remaining in the Foreclosure.com Scholarship Program (Deadline = Dec. 31, 2009) there is still ample time for students to get involved in the foreclosure discussion and submit their applications.

We look forward to hearing your ideas!
